Garofalo’s at it again.

Garofalo is at it again with her twisted view of the people of this country.  Anyone with half a brain, and the ability to watch two seconds of news coverage of this event could have realized that this event was about middle America (The people that don’t obsess over party affiliation) are pissed off about the current state of America.

Now I know that the left sees conservatives as “right wing racist extremists” and rednecks, but she forgot to point out that the Glenn Becks show, airing at 5 PM eastern time,  is number three in all of cable television, and has more viewers than all of the other cable news networks combined with 500,000 viewers to spare.  Let’s just break down some of the “Racists” that are conservative shall we?

Here is just a few of the people that have an influential role in the conservative movement. Mike Steele is the chairman of the RNC.  Chris Gardner is one of the most influential businessmen in America, Close friend to Glenn Beck, and the inspiration for the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” with Will Smith.  JC Watts is a former Congressman and conservative activist.  And of course there is the ever impressive, and genius mind of Clarence Thomas.

The Conservatives in this country have nothing but respect and admiration for these four men, but to the media, and Ms.  Garofalo, they are “Uncle Toms” and suffering from Stockholm syndrome.  Now I would venture to say that Ms. Garofalo would have a hard time defining Stockholm syndrome since she has misused the term countless times.  Maybe she should ask someone who writes for “24″ which is the show that currently employs her.  I’m sure that if she asked, they might be able to sit her down and explain it to her.

This isn’t about racism.  These are people who care about the direction of their country, and half or more of the people that were at these parties voted for Obama.  One person was on camera saying “I wanted bigger government, but no this big.”

Here is a clip that touches on exactly why people were at these rallies.

Now let’s get to Olberman’s assertion that  these were partisan.  The person that he featured actually said that there was surplus, the Bush administration overspent, and now the obama administration is taking spending to the next level.  He blamed both parties.

No I know that Olberman is driven by ideology, but there is no excuse for calling the near 500,000 people all over the country that protested, hillbillies and red necks.  Garofalo called everyone  that watches FOX news, and the people that showed up to the tea parties KKK members.  They actually  had a conversation about FOX’s viewers, and said that FOX was driving people away from their channel, yet their ratings keep rising.

Now I’m not a marketing genius, but I would think that the idea is to get people to watch your show, not insult the very people who you might bring over to your network.  FOX is successful because they don’t have disdain for their viewers.  The message from FOX is “we’re looking out for you” and “If you think this country is great but there is a problem in Washington then follow me.”  Not “If you don’t agree with me then you’re a stupid, right wing, red neck, racist.” I would say that doesn’t resonate well with middle America

If this clip hadn’t made it to the Internet, 4 people might have known what she said.  Olberman’s ratings are abysmal, yet he says that  FOX is the one with the problem.

So when Coulter or Limbaugh or Malkin or any of the rest of the comedians on the right say something outrageous, they’re just entertainers, but when Jeanine Garafolo does it the whole network is evil? Puh-leaze!

I also find your argument to be about the equivalent of some racist saying “but I have lots of black friends.”

And those teabag parties? Still just fox news and GOP astroturfing. They’re not going to become a populist movement just because you really want them to be.

Ann Coulter is also a cunt but that doesn’t mean I would consult her about my gf’s yeast infection. I not only think she is stupid but I think she is human excriment. Her marketing skills are not a “redeeming quality” she is a scumbag who knows how to sell scum. Marketing is pandering to the lowest common denominator. I guess she is good at that because she spews ignorance and hate wich seem pretty wide spread. Brilliant! Give her a cigar.

See, now there is the problem… I didn’t call anyone a name, yet you have to throw the word “Cunt” in there. Feel free to disagree with her or take her for what she is, a die hard capitalist, but why do we have to go to that level? Calling names is just school yard, fifth grade bull shit. I don’t have to get my point across by insulting her or the people that read her column. She says crazy shit to make mad cash. That is just who she is and what she does. If you think that her point of view is invalid, point out what you think are flaws in her argument, but don’t insult her and claim that you won an argument. That is what people who lose the argument do.
I have debated many people. Never have I ever taken the low road and called someone a name just to make my ego feel better.
Ann has some good arguments, and some bad arguments, but she at least doesn’t have to debase the debate by calling someone a name.
I hoped we would be past all of that in these really important times. Can’t we just argue and debate on merit alone?

They’re all comedians and entertainers regardless of their backgrounds, and entertainment is a matter of taste.

And by the way, how can you possibly say with a straight face that Ann Coulter does not debase the debate? Perhaps you’re a comedian too.

    demon,
    My brother,
I call Ms. Coulter a cunt because she is one. If you give me one of her arguments, and I can rip it to shit. I have never heard her say anything that is supportable; she is a corporate piece of shit. I rarely resort to name calling but a spade is a mutha fuckin spade and she is a worthless piece of shit that has no validity, I have never heard her make a serious argument, she is worthless. I have never heard her argue anything of substance. Give me anything she has said and I will tear her new asshole. Please give me something she has said and I will be happy to pulveraize it to dust.

Olbermann and Beck, Coulter and Maddow. They have succeeded in in exactly what they all want to do. Foster the “Us vs. Them” mentality that has infected our political landscape for far too long. I must say, that I argee with MSNBC alot more than Fox, but that does not mean that Fox is always wrong and MSNBC is always right. When did we start fighting for our commentators and not our ideals. We will defend or insult what Rush says instead of saying something that we thought up ourselves. If you think you believe in something, I gurantee there is a channel to make you feel right about it. By the way, racism, and class warfare are not “marketing stratagies” they are the things that this country has tried to cleanse from its shores for as long as it has been in a country.
