As thousands gather in Washington, congress adds more to the bill.
As thousands of protesters rallied in Washington today, congress got busy putting the final changes on the 1990 page monstrosity that does nothing to lower the cost of health-care or make health-care more accessible. In fact, they had to amend the bill to put constraints on the insurance companies to make sure that the price of insurance premiums would not go up as a result of the bloated bureaucratic mess they are going to make out of our health-care system. You know, what they and every sympathetic news agency promised would not happen. Rather than allow the insurance companies to actually compete with each other, and changing the tort laws, that, in the past, have proven to actually work, they have now written themselves sweeping power over the insurance companies to ensure there is no “pattern of excessive or unjustified premium increases.”
An alternative bill from the republicans brought these ideas to the table and the CBO numbers came back with a surprising result. The bill for the republican plan would cost 1/9 of the democratic plan, and bring the deficit down rather than inflate it over the next ten years.
Meanwhile, Approval for this plan is going down , and Blue Dogs are getting hammered back home. Plus, It was leaked that according to the bill, applicants may have to wait as long as six months to be picked up by the government option, if they are dropped from their insurance for preexisting or undisclosed maladies. In the unlikely event that a person is dropped unfairly, and forced to take the “Public Option” and their condition is terminal, or just plain dire, They’re SOL for at least six months. As on expert put it…
“If you are a cancer patient and have cancer now, you can’t wait six months to go into a plan because your condition can go from bad to death,” said Stephen Finan, a policy expert with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. He called the waiting period in the Senate bill “unacceptable.”
Now Nancy and the gang want a Saturday vote in the house to fast track the legislation, with little debate, and little chance to hash out the specifics of the bill.
Yes… This is actually happening people. The government is going for an all out take over, and it seems that they might succeed. If you man your phones now, you may be able to stop the insanity.
